Disrupters Success Strategies from Women Who Break the Mold Audible Audio Edition Dr Patti Fletcher Lisa Ling foreword LLC Gildan Media Books Reviews

  • A very important book on a very important topic.
I don’t strive to break the glass ceiling but I want to make my life meaningful and fulfilling. Being a women in the tech industry for over 20 years and a mother of 2 teenage boys I needed some fresh ideas and inspirations. This book provided both in abundance and helped me define what success is for me. We should not be defined by a mold. A wonderful read!
  • I really enjoyed reading Disrupters! It’s a great reminder that as women we owe it to ourselves and our kids to help shape and continue on the path to increased inclusion. If you don’t already have a tribe or understand the value of one, give this book a read!
  • While i liked the intention of this book, it came across as very elitist and almost a shoutout to high profile women. I would have loved to hear about those who are not in C Suite level positions but are still in the corporate world or are entrepreneurs and how they are considered successful. While I appreciate what the author was getting at, it felt as though the message was to truly be a disrupter you have to achieve the highest positions out there and be an incredibly well-known, well-educated person. I would have loved to have read some stories about women that are more relatable to my situation in life as a mid-30s woman who works in the corporate/tech sector and also manages multiple side businesses. Not all of us are trying to be in the C-Suite, but still face the same struggles as those women in the book.
  • So many books are written for those who are leaders already, and this is one of them.
  • I have followed Dr. Patti Fletcher’s career for a long time. I am excited to share her thoughts and experiences with my students to get them thinking early on how they too can be disrupters.
  • Dr. Patti Fletcher’s book DISRUPTERS reveals the personal stories of women who broke past gender barriers of unequal pay, unconscious bias and other unspoken rules and norms to achieve a seat on a corporate board. Rooted in Patti’s dissertation and now her life’s work, this book is a manifesto for all women to take charge of being their own change catalyst – not just at work but in life generally. Rather than prescribing women to “lean-in” through a male approach or blaming white males for the status quo, Patti urges her readers to define success on their own terms, determine a path, and refuse to sacrifice integrity and life outside of work along the way. DISRUPTERS is the antidote to any feelings of self-doubt not just for women but for all minorities at all stages of their careers. Whether you are just starting out, reinventing yourself, or are aiming for a position at the top, you’ll find motivation, reinforcement and inspiration in Patti’s words. Written with intelligence, heart, humility and humor, this book will change the way you think and go about your future.
  • Dr. Fletcher's book had a profound impact on me personally, I can not recommend enough. She is so inspiring. I talk about it in my blog post about starting my own company GraceRock --> ."Dr. Fletcher’s book helped me reflect on my career journey in direct context of being a women. She talks about how successful women have zigged when others would have zagged, not stopping when you hit a roadblock but rather building new routes around a situation, and the utter myth of the concept of “having it all.” There is so much in this book that I identified with that it felt like I had an old girlfriend whispering in my ear. That girlfriend was helping me see that it was time for me to seize my opportunity and set out on my own path. I feel like I not only want to do this, but but because I can, I must."
  • Patti's book is the perfect blend of research based information, actionable insights and interviews with super interesting women that truly broke the mold and disrupted their industry or area of influence. Disruption is one of the hot topics right now and there is so much written about it. But this book really helps get the readers started to disrupt the status quo that is holding them back right now.
